1- Why activate full headlights on my Volkswagen Beetle

2-How to activate and deactivate the full headlights on my Volkswagen Beetle?

Although some headlights such as the daytime running lights (see the article “how to activate my daytime running lights on my Volkswagen Beetle”) or the sidelamps and dipped beams have become automatic, they all have a manual control on your Volkswagen Beetle.


This command is even more useful for the high beam which must be deactivated at each crossing with a second driver.


This is why it is usually positioned next to the steering wheel to simplify activation or deactivation.




First of all, we advise you to do the test when stationary to avoid errors due to a lack of attention and therefore risk creating an accident with your Volkswagen Beetle.


Then, important to know: the dipped beam headlights, the sidelamps and the main beam headlights (full headlights) cannot be activated at the same time, any activation of one will automatically deactivate the previous one. This indicator light will have a color defined according to the activated light:

  • Low beam = green
  • Position lights = green
  • Fog lights (front) = green
  • High beam = blue
